Dropping like flies!

Maybe I am opening a can of worms, or maybe I am preaching to the choir, but
In an incipient spin situation, the tendency is to look at what you might hit, or to think about the often quoted spin recovery technique of "correct, pause and recovery".
I try not to do either.
Instead, I try to look at where I want to go as far down the road as possible, even if that point is blocked by some obstruction.
I find this is hard to do sometimes. But if I can keep looking at where I want to go my hands seem do the right thing and often I recover the car smoothly.
I think proper vision is very important.

Well, as one of those wgho has recently bruised my ego, I must say that I don't think in my situation there was anything to blame but driver error. Sure, it was a cool morning and maybe my tires are showing some wear. Bottom line: I was in the drivers seat and I screwed up.
Will this change the way I drive? I am sure it will to an extent. However, I will not sit in the right lane and watch the world go by. Accidents are just that: Accidents... I had no intention of smashing my car up and terrifying some little old lady.
At times we all push the limits. We just need to remember that there are other people out there and be careful.

almost the same traction with stock S02. More warning given and control over the s02.
Driver's error may be the main problem.
beware of the cold tires.
tokyo_james,
Sorry to hear that, glad you are both OK. Several times I have been in situations which I wasn't able to recover, the most recent being two weeks ago in an open wheel race car which I spun into an embankment. Last year I got a chance to drive with Pierre Savoy and Hurley Haywood at a Porsche event. They both told me that vision is the most important thing in driving, and that when they make an error it is almost invariably due to problems with vision.
