dropping out of VTEC when shifting
I think the most important factor in disputing this is how fast are these people shifting? We know that the AP2's VTEC crossover is right around 6000k's, but if they shift like my grandma they are falling out and it is appearing that the car goes below VTEC when in reality it's their slow shifting.
also if you wanna lower the Vtec engagment point i suggest you get a E-manage U and lower it to say 1k rpm and you'll never ever leave Vtec.
you 'll be in Vtec from 2 to the 4 to the 7...

Okay, so tonight I took my camera and recorded a 1-2 shift. Its quick and dirty, but I think it shows an AP2 staying above 6k on the shift. You can hear the effects of a CDV too.
The rpms dip to 6,400, maybe 6,300 on the 1-2 redline shift with my slipping clutch. If the clutch were to hook up immediately, I think it would be higher. Since the 1-2 is supposed to be the hardest, and you quickly reach illegal speeds by the time the 2-3 comes up, I just did a 1-2.
1-2 redline shift
Sorry for the quality, I was pinching the camera and steering wheel at the same time.

This is well known...the ap2 does drop below 6k on up shift from 1st to 2nd regardless of shifting at redline or just before fuel cut-off. It will also drop out of VTEC from 2nd to 3rd if you shift at redline.
To prove it to yourself use the following calculator:

I'm sorry, but I just got in my AP2 and shifted from 1-2 without dropping below 6k rpm, so I don't think the calculator is accurate. The video is on the previous page.
