The reason it appears the car stays in VTEC is because: 1) clutch is slipping due to CDV allowing the engine to rev but not transmitting power; 2) tires break loose, which again allows the engine to rev but no power to the ground.

Note...there is also a delay in the rev counter. It lags behind the actual rpm.

The calculator is based on the gear ratios and is correct.

This discussion is becoming useless very quickly.

Look, believe whatever makes you feel better, but I'm in an AP2 and I (and lots of other AP2 owners) can tell you the car stays in Vtec.

And you as well...believe that David Copperfield really did make the Statue of Liberty disappear if you like to.

Hell...there is a video showing the s2k at 175mph on the speedo...but that isn't accurate either...the gearing limits the car to 170mph if tire deflection is not taken into consideration and 166mph if deflection is considered.

The math is accurate and objective. Your rpm gauge and feelings are not.

To the OP; If it's a problem for you, just get an AP1 because there's no question that an AP1 stays in VTEC

I just got my clutch replaced several months ago...I don't know what you're talking about.
Do you still have your CDV?

If you are going to use this as an analogy, remember, I'm the one in the Statue of Liberty, so I'd be pretty aware of it dissapearing out from under me.
