First off, when i typed that post it was 130 in the morning after 15 hours of driving so I was kind of out there. Second- it is for real. Third- we were in Myrtle Beach in North Carolina. 4th- my dad is not careless, he just know how to drive. 5th- who says i am not an owner, my dad just wanted to drive a brand new S2000. I was trying to see if anyone has had any similar experiences. And last but not least- I am going to be my own person, I am not going to try and be just like my dad. I would not do anything stupid like do it on a crowded street. As a matter of fact where we did there was not a car in sight. Last- How do I not understand what S2000 is all about? I practically live in one. Why would you even say something like that.

Translation:

First of all, it was 1:30 AM when I started this thread. This was after 15 hours of driving, so I was really tired. Secondly, my story was true. Thirdly, we were in Myrtle Beach, North Carolina. Fourthly, my dad is not a careless driver (Oh really???). He just knows how to drive (You can't convince me of that). Fifthly, who says I'm not an owner? My dad just wanted to drive (more like abuse) a brand new S2000. I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience. And last, but not least, I am going to be my own person. I am not going to try to be like my dad. I wouldn't do anything stupid like drive like an idiot on crowded street. As a matter of fact, the street we were on was totally empty. And second last but not least, how do I not understand what the S2000 is all about (if you did, you would have allowed your father - i.e. your role model, to drive this brand new S in such an abusive manner)? I practically live in one. That proves absolutely nothing. There's a lot of homeless people who live in cars. Does that mean they know and understand them? I don't think so. Why would you even say anything like that?

your dad may know "how" to drive in the literal sense(putting the key in the ignition, turning the steering wheel, applying the brakes, etc), but tearing up someone else's car is dumb and low-rent.

it's not about being on a crowded street or safety, it's about respecting the fact that SOMEONE is going to buy the car that your dad just f'ed up.

who cars about catching a wheel? you were at the beach. there's a lot sand, the wind blows it everywhere, the traction sucks.

So since you own a S2K you SHOULD know about the proper break-in procedures right? And knowing this, you still allowed your father to throughly abuse a brand new car? What happened to respect for other fellow S2K owners? What about the person who purchases that car?

Whether or not the street was crowded isn't the issue. The issue is what your idiot father did to a brand new un-broken-in car. We just feel bad for the damn car since it was brand new.

What does it matter if it was redlined twice....it really will not make a difference. I got one used so I would not know.

First off- I do not look up to my dad at all
Second- If I am in my car alot it means that I know it (ie. How 9it is going to handle and it's limits)
Third- Why do you keep bringing up the fact that my dad is careless? The fact is- he isnt
Fourth- Why is it that everyone bitches about how people do not drive cars the way they are meant to be driven but when someone does it is ABUSE???

The problem is the salespeople.

THey are the ones who should be protecting the property of the future owner of that vehicle. Unfortunately, the future owner is going to wonder why in hell he has to replace a clutch at 10,000 miles. Or why he needs a quart of oil every 1000 miles when his buddies S2000 never burns a drop.

To get back to the salespeople. They should never allow anyone(including a current owner of a S2000) to drive that car alone. THe must establish guidelines upfront about exceeding 6000 rpm in a new vehicle.

It is their responsibility to protect you and me from idiots just out for a destructive joy ride.

two people show up for a "test" drive. a husband and wife. how do you suggest that the saleslug accompany them on a test drive? if it's me, i'm not leaving my wife in the showroom.

IF YOU'RE AN ADULT, ACT LIKE ONE. the dealership shouldn't have to worry that S they just loaned out will come back with it's clutch stinking, tires melted and engine bounced off the rev limiter on every shift.
