Very easily.

I'm sorry sir, it is dealer policy that all S2000 test drives be accompanied with a salesperson. You might argue that you will lose some sales as a result of this policy. Not true, when I hear that the dealer enforces such a policy, that is where I want to buy a car.

As far as leaving your wife in the showroom, she is perfectly safe as long as there are no NBA players hanging around the showroom.

Yeah i thought that dealers had their salesmen come with you, espicially for a NEW s2000. Hell i couldn't even test drive one until i sat through the inital paper work and financing.

As for chirping the tires... umm, you're asking if anyone has ever done this? Im gonna say yeah, they have.

Exactly. You would not know, so how do you know it won't make a difference. The fact is you don't need to know. It's not your right to decide to redline the car during the break in period unless you're buying that car. We can expect ignorance about break-in procedure from the masses, but I'm surprised to see it here from an s2ki member. Even if you disagree with the conventional wisdom, you must have known you would be attacked by the majority here if you posted a story like this... I'm really surprised.

You had no right to abuse a car in the interest of a joy ride. Your defense is pitiful.

Another point- how did I have control over what my dad did?

I drove it for like 2 miles and I really drove it normally. So why get all pissed off at me about it?

Plus- You cannot tell me that you test drove an S2000 and did not VTEC it.

DarioManfretti is the funniest guy on earth, i almost peed my pants when i saw "translation" for VTEC's second post hahah.

im still confused about what "blew the tread away from the tire" means. does that mean that the rubber came off the tire, or does that mean that the tires squealed? also, did his dad do all this shifting while the tires were spinning and he wasnt moving, or did he squeal through 1st, redline, 2nd, redline, 3rd, etc?

Ummm.. you all realize that usually if you dont buy a car straight from the truck (brand new) that it WILL be beaten on... I hate to say it but it is true... While looking for new cars over 9 out of 10 salesmen would.. "show you what the car could do".. And literally redline cars with less than 50 miles on them.. Good for the car?... No not at all..... Do I care?... No not at all.... It may sound "mean" but it is true... When I test drive a car I always pick a color I know that I wont buy... I think drive the other car hard to see if I like it... I go back to the lot.. and I say I will take it in that color (and point to the one that I want that is freshly new).... Sorry folks .. Get off of his butt a little... It is just how life is... You can't say you have never had fun on a test drive.. and if you havent.. you need to get out more

The car I test drove had 13,000 kms on it....so yes, it was SAFE to VTEC it. The car I purchased had 8 kms on it, and didn't see past 5000 rpm until 1000kms

you're dad has no respect for the future owner of that vehicle...plain and simple. You show up to buy your brand new s2000, you hear a screaming f20 off in the distance and see YOUR s2000 being driven up buy the dealership car wash kid.....pulls the handbrake and slides the car into the car lot.....you still going to buy that car?

i wouldn't.....tell your dad to grow up

VTEC, I'm still wondering if this post is a prank on your part or not. However, there's an old saying about "what I don't know won't hurt me". Meaning, you never should have started this post. We were much better off not knowing. However, the poor guy who buys the car that was abused by your father will probably join this site and start telling us of all the problems his car is experiencing because of what your ignorant father did. You make it sound like, because you drove it for 2 miles and it drove normally, that there wasn't any long term damage done to the car. You could have told your immature father not to treat the car in such a manner.

Lastly, I NEVER TOOK MY TEST DRIVE CAR INTO VTEC RANGE!!!!!!
