I believe most people who bought '04-'05 S2000's could have probably afforded a used '00-'03.

There is a reason I bought my '05. It appeals to ME and I don't care if I have to shift a bit more in the lower gears, last time I checked the S2000 had one of the best damn gearboxes on the planet.

why does everyone seem to make a post about something like this?

bottom line is "most all of us" drive s2000's, so quit the whining and complaining and just drive for god sakes!

Really? Mind telling us where? I recall no conclusive or documented evidence of this. I would think that it would take a failure of a motor owned by someone who has done this and very few have.

the Ap2 is more than the engine and facelift. The AP2 has different damper settings F/R making the car much less twitchy, and stabler at high speed cornering. Plus the Factory wheel/tire combo makes the S2000 a better handling machine....with either engine. NA gets the 2.2L, and everyone else has the 2.0. I've driven both..I don't favor one over the other...but I think the newer models have a crisper shift feel. The added stability is a big plus.

Yeaaaaah! Yet another thread for all the AP1 circle jerkers to tell the AP2 owners how shitty their cars are...

Guess what dumbasses, every AP2 owner on this forum could have bought an AP1 if they so desired. Cost of AP2>Cost of AP1, it's that simple, obviously they either liked the AP2 better or didn't want to buy a used car, take your pick. I don't mean this as disrespectful to the rational AP1 owners on this board, but post after post of this shit gets tiring after a while. Later, I'm off to go make some post over on the Z06 boards telling them how shitty their car is....shoot, it only turns 7000 rpm.

That's why I bought my '04 model. It was just a matter of when my financial status allowed me to buy the car and I had my heart set on a new one. I've never bought a car of this caliber before and I wanted a new one so I'd "know" how it was treated from the get go!

Part of me wishes I'd been able to get a '03, or that NA got the same car that everyone else did, starting in 2004. I wouldn't mind having the 9k redline but you know what, I couldn't be more pleased with my '04 model and it's 2.2 engine. Maybe I only redline at 8k but from what I've been able to tell from most of what I've read on this forum, I get better gas mileage than most 2.0's and I definitely get way better oil consumption than the 2.0's so all things considered, I think it's worth the trade off. I wouldn't swap my '04 S2000 for anything!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Yep, I figured this weekend that my '05 S2000 is to me now what my 240Z was to me in '72. One great car that I like more and more all the time - don't care if it doesn't rev to 9000 RPM - I don't there all that often anyway. My 5K shift get me up over the speed limit fast enough and crusing at 68 in a 60 limit are got me 34.6 MPG this last weekend. I still will wave to any other S2000 - even an AP1

They're both good cars. I don't know what else to say.

I prefer my '04 over my '01. That's not to say the difference isn't minimal, because it really IS minimal.

One has more grunt and the other winds out 1,000 rpm higher to take advantage of the torque it makes at higher rpm. They both go as fast, they just get there a bit differently.

I bought my S2000 to be my daily driver so I actually don't like such a high revving engine. It's difficult to drive in traffic because you constantly have to keep the engine revved up high. I was glad when Honda came up with the bigger engine and slightly more torque. My '05 serves my purpose and I'm happy with it, I just wish I waited for the '06 model which has little more creature comforts. Oh well, can't wait forever. Besides, I was born in the year of the rooster and so was my S2K.
