I dont know why everybody is bashing the poor guy for allegedly beating the hell out of the car when all he said was that he drove it. He didnt say anything about redlining it or anything... just that he drove it. For all we know the guy drives like my grandmother. Tough crowd in here tonight.

From the OP's first two posts, I don't see anything wrong with what he did. He hardly said anything about his actions. Shame on anyone for overreacting with hardly any information about what happened. Just because he enjoyed the drive doesn't mean he drove it hard.

Everybody just immediately ASSumed that he beat on the car, evidently based on their beliefs that it's impossible to enjoy an S2000 unless you're banging off the rev limiter everywhere you go. It's one of the most retarded things I've ever seen on this board.

Furthermore, it's also somewhat embarrassing to me as a member of the s2ki community when some new guy comes on the board and is genuinely interested in the S, and the poor guy's first thread results in a bunch of dbags bashing without even having any kind of factual basis for doing so.

A lot of beginner and intermediate S2k'ers turn to S2ki for advice when making decisions about their cars. I realize that there are varying levels of talent, experience, etc. among the S2ki forum members, but many people like myself factor in the collective opinion when making decisions about the S2000. This is the first time that I am disappointed in the collective response to a thread. There are some people who looked at the original post objectively, but others overreacted big time. It's possible that ASM Stook is lying and he drove the car hard or did something otherwise unethical, but I think it's equally possible that he didn't. An owner could've easily had a great time in the S2000 without abusing the car, and even with stricter standards, a Honda person could've also.

I remember when I first test drove an S2000, I knew it had a 9000rpm redline, but I was very conservative during the drive. It wasn't until a year or so of ownership that I was fully comfortable with testing the car's limits. For me, it wasn't just about knowing the car's limits; it was about understanding and experiencing them over time. This last point is not to say that ASM Stook drives cars the same way, but you should know that there are just as many mindful drivers out there as there are careless ones.

Sure as hell he just cruised the car under 6k, that's what this car is all about... I for instance immediately ASSumed nothing, it's just not done stealing a car that is in for service and taking it for whatever UNspirited drive without the owner knowing. That's all.

On the other case, you're right... He just wanted to share his first drive enthousiasm and we all somewhat gave negative reply's because we all care for our cars and don't want this to happen when we take our cars to the dealer. So sorry for the negative reply's here too

When I take my car in to the mechanic, there are times where he must redline it to 'reproduce' problems etc.
Same goes with my 350rwhp RX7.

Bottom line is that you have to take the car to a person you trust. For me that is not a honda dealer, but im sure that for some it is.

Also I don't see how redlining a car (with 15K miles) is any form of abuse.
