Dude, I can't VTEC
I may be a misperception on my part, but I think my engine is getting stronger with time. In the beginning (600 - 1,500 miles) the cross into VTEC seemed to be mostly a change in sound. Granted, I did notice more power, but like mansfieldpro, it didn't floor me - no pun indended.
What's been great is that as the engine matures it seems to be getting stronger & stronger. I have a friend that lives in Houston. We see each other 3-4 times a year. He has passengered with me from the beginning and, on his last trip, he made an unsolicited comment like, "Damn, this thing is a lot faster than I remembered. Did you mod it?". My baby's stock to the bone.
Maybe there's something to this. As everything seats & tightens, maybe it gets stronger for a while.
Mansfieldpro - just continue to put your foot through the firewall and have fun! It'll get there.

THREAD: VTEC - insights?
I'm up to 701 miles this morning.
So I let the VTEC monster out of the bag last night.
I'm extremely intrigued by the nature of this somewhat unpredictable beast. There are times under full throttle and it is like an explosion of power, but there have been times under partial throttle when the VTEC step has been subtle. Then I noticed if I was very light on the throttle the engine would spin up to 8,000 and a VTEC jump was never detected. All very interesting. I'm sure there is some logic to this; I just don't have enough experience with it yet. One thing for sure, it is clearly a blast, and when it is subtle I feel a little
overcome me, but don't get me wrong, I love this car!
