Really? Is that the engine that comes in the 04's?

Yeah...he happened to have some kind of freak dyno one day and now posts this dyno sheet in every thread on the site with the number 2004 in its title.
I dynod at 220 to the wheels...and it was a hot day. Was mine a freak too?

Really? Is that the engine that comes in the 04's?
You sir... are a Doofus. That Sarcasm is as Neccesary as side exhaust on my s2k...

Personally, I love the handling of the MY04 with the 2.2 engine (with a custom alignment job). It handles much better at the limit than the earlier cars I drove, and is easy to accelerate in real world conditions. Love the wider rubber in the rear.
The rubber isn't wider. We have the same width tire as they do.

Tell you what, next time I get a chance I'll try this... Redline in 1st until it hits fuel cutoff, then maintain that speed. Then I'll go that exact same speed in 2nd and report on the rpms that results in.
Agreed! I'll be interested to read what you come up with.

FWIW, I ran my car to redline in third while coming up a freeway on ramp. I was not on the floor, just accelerated until the redline started flashing. The fuel cutof point was never reached. My speed was about 80 mph and on shifting to forth, the tach was showing 6300 to 6400 rpm which is well above the 6000 VTEC engagement point.

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Really? I'm not trying to be smart here, just asking. I remember reading it somewhere, on this forum I think, that the rear tires on the MY04's were "around" 1 to 1.5 inches wider than the previous models.

Any of you folks with access to a stock '04 and a stock '00 to '03 care to put a ruler to it?

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Really? Where's the dyno sheet with side by side comparison to an 00-03 on the same day back to back?

Doofus?? Coming from someone with Sonic as their avatar and a freak tendency to capatilize random words, I think I'll take that quite lightly. You sir...are too cool for me.

Yep, that's the way it should be. According to the gear calculator at http://www.reverendsgarage.net/index.php?c..._calculator.php (you'll have to manually input the '04 gearing specs) it's only the 1st to 2nd shift that lands you below 6000. Since the gearing is tighter for the later gears, all the shifts land you at or above 6000.

The graph indicates that we can hit a max of 38.9mph at 8200rpm in first. So what RPM does 39mph get us in 2nd?

I have pictures of '03 wheel/tires next to 04 ones... I'll see about uploading them. The '04s are a bit wider in the rear, but the fronts are suprisingly similar. (This doesn't really show tread width, however - it's more a function of the sidewalls, you know?)

Doofus?? Coming from someone with Sonic as their avatar ...
Im sure the sonic revealed so much about my personality and Intelligence. Please don't hurt my feelings like that ...your cutting too deep.

You sir...are too cool for me.

So what would we need to do to kep it above or at 6,000 RPM from 1st to 2nd. Change VTEC engage ment or change the gearing? I know we can shift from 1st to 2nd and keep it in VTEC but changing it to make it easy/better would be a good thing I think.

Using a VAFC to lower engagement to 5500 is what I'm thinking. Any mechanical change would be way too difficult.
