I have two thoughts. First, 10 hp is only a little less than 4% which is easily within normal variation for production engines. Second, I wonder if there is some relationship between dyno numbers and altitude. I don't think dyno software is that sophisticated when it comes to altitude/temperature correction.

I somehow doubt that it's due to break-in (which is almost a thing of the past these days) or any difference in the engine (too new for any minor production changes.)

Mingster,

Don't forget that the dyno place in Gardena uses a differnt roller, so you're going to get a few HP less than other dynos.

You may doubt it all you want, myself and a few other people that I know adhere to strict break-in procedures at the start and make sure to rev the car hard afterwards, our cars seem to be "magically" faster than others of the same type time and time again, i am talking pure accelleration in each gear.

and I followed the break in procedures religiously. strictly no VTEC during that period, etc.

and it's still somewhat less than others.

I HIGHLY doubt there was a 10hp "change" to the F20C from the year 2000 to 2001. If it was, it was a change to the programming of the ECU, IMHO... and NOT any kind of "mod".

$.02,

BTW-- our group is FILLED with 2000's and 2001's.. we run often and HARRRD. (The Austin group is rather known for that). When ANY of the S2K's, regardless of year, filter, etc.. (excluding Supercharged, which we don't have), they can't pull on me, and I can't pull on them... I'de say that they are nearly 99.9% identical on the road and the differences you are seeing are variences in the dyno/humidity/temp/error/etc...

I'm with Sev on breaking the car in and then running it hard too. A local guy I know around here didn't break his in at all, while I waited till 600 miles (on the dot!) to VTEC it and since then I've run it pretty hard. When we went to the dragstrip, my trap speeds were faster (despite him powershifting) than his every time (even when he beat me by about .3 sec ).
