Default ear plugs

just came back from a midnight drive. had a hunch. very unsafe, i know, but there were no cars out.

i drove around with earplugs on and found that i was going faster with less effort. the s2k lets you hear every sound from the gearbox to the diff and while i usually enjoy them, i think in the back of my head, some of the sounds feel like im hurtng the car even though i rationally know that im not.

make any sense?

im not saying the car ought to be turned into a coupe with tons of sound deadening. rather just making an observations. it ended up reminding me of a m5 type car where it's going crazy fast, but you dont feel the speed at all=boring.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I've had the same experience in the S2K vs. Lux cars.

Interesting observation ...

Always wanted to try that myself, but never got a chance to (too many cars even at night for me to try it)

I always drive with earplugs in, why do you think it's unsafe? They block out wind noise but horns and even my radar detector are not compromised to a dangerous level.

It's a much more enjoyable experience driving the car without the wind noise taking precious lifespan from your eardrums.

You can actually buy a set of ear plugs that will allow you to hear perfesctly fine up to a certain decible level. I git a pair at sports authority by the guns for about 10 bux. I dont remember what decible it cuts noise off at, but you can hear people talking just fine and you can still hear most everything, it just cuts out the wind noise. Also if you had a noisy single exhaust it would probally save your ear drums from that as well. I cant tell you about that though since I still got the stock on mine.

i rock earplugs on my car for anything more than around town. Even when i had stock exhaust, the wind noise and road hum was enough for me to lose hearing.

WHAT!!!!!????? SAY AGAIN!!!!!

I would think it is illegal as well. You can't drive with both earphones (I-Pod, etc) so I think the same would apply here. Reason being that they would claim you couldn't hear emergency vehicles or other peoples horns the same way compared to without them. I personally think it makes the driving experience better, but Johnny Law may see it otherwise.
