I never thought to wear ear plugs while driving my car. As far as my exhaust goes I bought it to hear it so I don't know why I would want to wear ear plugs, but I hear what you are saying about long trips or in heavy traffic.

No earplugs for me. The noise is fine its just that my stereo sucks at high volume. I MUST change that.

I bought a set of those orange ear protectors like they use at the airport for people who work on the tarmac (baggage handlers, etc). I wear those when I drive with the top down.

I also wear SPF 200 sunscreen.

And a full bio-suit to protect me from pollen.

I have never found it noisy enough to wear earplugs, and yes that would be illegal in California. If I am passing lots of big trucks, I just roll up the windows and they are not nearly as loud and I can hear the music just fine.

everyone seems to be posting they have to wear earplugs because of their exhaust. not having made my exhaust decision yet, it would be nice for the afore mentioned to list what kind they have. I don't think I will mind a loud exhaust, but if you have to wear earplugs, that may be too loud. thanks!

p.s. leaning toward T1R dual Sparrow or Invidia. I already know Invidia is loud, but it seems so in a good way

As a motorcycle rider I learned to always ride with earplugs so it was normal for me to keep wearing them when driving the s2000 (not a quiet car).

About being illegal, if they are custom made, it is argue that they are prescription which does not make it illegal. The foam ones depending on the police office could be consider illegal because they obstruct your hearing (citation states that)
