I wouldn't, just for safety's sake. Seeing as hearing is a rather important sense while driving, I don't think it's smart to impair it intentionally. I use my hearing more than anything else, sometimes.

Those who don't think earplugs are necessary obviously haven't driven the car FAST for a long period of time with the top up!
On a recent trip, which was 300Kms (186miles) long and took me 1h30minutes (average speed : 200kmh / 123mph, top speed 250kmh / 155mph ), I didn't have earplugs, so when I went to sleep, right after reaching my final destination, my ears were ringing exactly like after standing 2 hours next to a loudspeaker in a Megadeth concert (not that I've ever been to such a concert...). Really painful and scary!
I've noticed that usually the sound inside the 'cockpit' becomes really annoying after 210kmh / 130mph.

I like this idea!

On second thought, I think I will just go faster. That normally quiets the wife down.

I wish they let us drive that fast around here.

Well looks like the answer is no. The reason I asked is yes, I love the sound of the engine, But I have been driving a couple of 3-4 hours streches a week. I've been setting the cruise at 85. When I get to work on the other end, It's seems like it's a little hard to hear. I only have the stock wind screen, probably Ricks would help. Thanks for all the inputs!!!

Maybe you can try the top up in certain situations.

That's true, I guess it would get loud at fast speeds on long trips. I was referring to wearing earplugs on a cruise to the store or somethinkg
