Default ebay cold air intake

Okay well ive been doing some research and dont want to spend the $300 on a injen or aem. I found a cai on ebay, brand new, with a k & n air filter for $60 plus $30 for shipping. The piping is the same diameter and design as the major brands, so I think its worth it. After all there all just filters on a pipe right?

I used to have this, its alright. However, I would not recommend getting a cold air intake, you are most likely going to hydrolock that thing. If you just want the sound (witch that is all you will obtain from this thing) I would just recommend that you take off the plastic cover thing to your air box, works wonderfully!

ya i do that occasionally, however i suck hot air with that. ill just get a bypass valve to avoid hydro lock. so your saying that no cai will give you hp then correct?

That bypass valve thing that AEM offers negates any HP gain that you will see. Personally, the K&N FIPK and Comptech are my favorite intake designs.

You can buy a CAI and risk hydrolocking and gain a few HP- the brand doesn't matter except for the filter. You can remove your airbox cover and make a cool sound but lose a few HP. You can buy a Comptech style intake and maybe gain 1-2hp, but spend $350 doing it. There really are no good intake options for our car...

Those ebay intakes look nice on the outside, but they're pretty gritty on the inside. Also, where the weld which attaches the intake mount to the car is pretty weak, which could put a hole in the intake later.

Hole in intake = unfiltered air = bad.

Though the car does sound great with the intake, your best bet is the stock airbox. The money is better spent on a nice dinner. But if sound is your thing, be wary and enjoy.

yes thats what there claiming. Im gonna order it in about 2 weeks from now. And to whoever said you lose hp with the bypass valve, thats not true. The valve doesnt even open up unless it detects water pressure. There was a test done on an nsx i remember watching.
