Electronic fuel control options
It's been awhile since I've been in a Honda. I had a 2nd gen GS-R with ITR motor, then I got a WRX wagon...but I digress.
Anyways, I was looking into something that would give me a little better control over my fueling and VTEC cross-over. It seems to me that the stock EM runs very rich and I could squeeze a bit more power/fuel efficiency out of the engine with some minor tweaking.
It seems that the Apexi VAFC is a popular option here. As well as the Greddy E-manage. What would you all recommend? I'm not planning on forced induction or anything. Although, I might add the typical I/H/E down the road.
First off, am I stupid to think I can get a little more out of the engine?
Second, which one is recommended?
Third, I've seen reference to the AEM and Mugen ECUs. How would those rate over a piggy-back system?
thanks
mike

No you are not stupid for thinking about tuning your engine.
Personal opinion: V-AFC, cheap, easy to install, easy to tune.
-I'm not a big fan of E-manage. Too many "extras" that are needed. ($$$)
-AEM is great, but is overkill for what you're looking for.
-Mugen or Spoon ECUs are just tweeked ECUs. With different altitudes, driving styles, Mod's..... how can you be certain the ECU is right for you. You can't change or adjust any settings.
Hope this helps, good luck.
