What is the best way to break-in my S2000 engine? I know what the manual says but I also think there are probably other things to consider during this time that the manual
does not address. Like an oil change at the first 1000 miles. Just to name a few...
Thanks in advance, I am a newbie..
Terry

Yellow, I've read 3750 was the magic mileage to avoid changing oil sooner (to allow the Honda-added break-in fluid to do its thing).

Take it easy with the first 600 miles.. avoid hard braking, vary ur RPM's from time to time.. and do ur first oil change at around 3750 miles..

Factory engineers say to ideally leave the factory oil in for at least 6000 miles, preferably 7500 miles under regular driving conditions.

What factory engineers are you quoting?

I was in Japan in '98 at the birthplace of the NSX and S2000 and spoke to the chief engineers about break in processes for Honda engines - he said the same recommendation applies to all Honda engines - especially the high-revving VTEC ones (including the S2000 and NSX). The American Honda Engineer looking after the NSX and S2000 has confirmed the same thing.

In your owner's manual, it states to change it at 3750 for extreme conditions....7000 for normal conditions. Anybody drive their S2K normally? Heh!

Just to throw a spanner in the crankcase, our first oilchange is at 9000 miles!

I believe that as long as you warm it up carefully, you should drive "normally". Just avoid Vtec for the first 600 miles (as much as possible!) and don't labour the engine.
