Default Engine Failures

I am in the process of purchasing a silver 01 s2000 new. I have read that there have been some engine failures and or problems with the transmissions. Is there any truth to this and why is it happening? also who has the highest mileage s2000 with out any problems?

To be honest, though, not all S2000 owners have been as satisfied. My brother's S spun a cylinder and two dealers as well as AHM basically told him to *&#% off. They claimed it was his fault because the car had "absolutely no oil in it" (which was proven to be false, the dealer had drained the oil and not noted that fact).

It took a full report by an ASE mech., a lawyer, and 7 weeks before Honda finally fixed his car.

My advice is to establish a good rapport with a dealer or service center early on.
