o... well RED MX5 was prolly right... that was just my 5 cents in...
heheh i'm just a kid so dont take my word for it...
everyone's prolly more right than me.
Well, if the timing chain slipped it could result in bent or broken valves, so your guess was as good as anyone elses.
Don't ever be afraid to throw in your 5 cents worth.

I find it hard to believe that the stock redline (on AP1s) is that close to the point at which the valves float, so I suspect that the motor was over reved more than that at some point along the way.

Do you think the valves might be floating enough at 9,200 RPM to hammer the keepers?
It looks higher than 9200rpm to me from this thread:

Now this makes more sense.

I'll bet the retainers were stretched during that dyno run.

One single dyno run is not a reason for this to happen eventually.

No worries ... as my signature says, "The end of a legend is the dawn of a new era." This will be a nice new era for ya with the new J's engine

Actually am not so concerned and unhappy with the whole story. It is the nature of my business that I will not try to justify what if and why... I mean what happened cannot be undone so I just have to move on and get that J's engine.

BUT still no reply... However am searching the market in the meantime for a used engine as well... As I said am considering all possible options. Even that grey J's Monster which is for sale at the moment.

I personally hate breaking things, but those who modify their cars have to accept the fact that this is the kind of thing that can happen. Like you, when the unexpected happens, I try to see it as an opportunity rather than a setback. It's all good as long as we don't let it get us down.

Are you going to try to do any kind of in-depth failure analysis on the remains?
