Default Engine mods

Ok here's the deal; I was supposed to be piecing together a turbo kit for my S2 and then I remembered that I had purchased a warranty. So now I must try and find other alternatives that can be easily installed and unistalled so as not to void my warranty. I was wondering if anyone can help me with my dilemma or if anyone can relate. I know pretty much everything that is available for our cars but I would like to get some actual feedback on these products. Thanks for all the help!

anything you do to the car, could be used by a dealer as an excuse to void the warrenty. Second, you can squeeze some extra hp and some improved throttle response with basic bolt-ons, but it gets expensive for little hp gain. The best bang for the buck mod, IMO, are gears.

That is not legal. They have to be able to prove that the mod caused the problem. If you can prove otherwise, they have to fix it.

The 4.57's are the best "bang for the buck" at around $400+, they will make the S a stock 12.7 sec car (i think that is the figure). Here is what I would do, if I had the $.

1. CAI
2. Comptech exhaust
3. Mugen / Rick's 6plus header
4. Comptech diff with 4.57's
5. ACT clutch kit
6. Comptech flywheel

Anything much beyond this and you are getting into the ECU or the engine block.

What?! I don't know for sure, but this sounds like a bit of a stretch to me. Does anyone have an otherwise stock s2k and a timeslip to prove this?

Sorry bro, you're 110% wrong. Dealers don't have to prove shit. Yes, that is the party line, but I've been on the board for 3years now and I've seen MANY threads about dealers voiding warrenties without solid proof. Yes, you can fight it, but that takes time. Also, it is VERY dealer dependent. Ganley Honda, for example, is very mod friendly while my old dealer here said the CAI voided the warrenty. Thrid, gears cost more than 400 bucks. You have to buy the gears, the yellow box and then there is installation....you're looking at anywhere from 900-1200 bucks. Still, 4.77 gears are the best bang for the buck, IMO.

You are off about a second regarding the 12.7 1/4 mile time. More like 13.7 consistantly maybe slightly better with different tires. But, gears are still the best bang for the buck. I've got 4.44, but if I had to do it over I'd have probably gotten the 4.77s. After a few weeks with any mod you'll want more.

^ several folks (Pinky, vapors2k, and others) went out and bought the 4.77 after having the 4.44. It is the reason I went with the 4.77 from the start. I consistantly get "WOW!" when other owners ride in my car Folks who don't have the 4.77 will try to say that the rpms are too high on the hwy...that's B.S. I've had my gears over a year now, driven to Tx and back as well as several other loing trips, without any problems.
