I did some searching, but couldn't find anything about it. My car has a rattle, metal on metal type sound at high RPM. I would say above 7000RPM is where it's audible.

I guess I was curios if anyone else has experienced this, or if it is normal.

I know these cars make some noises, but I'm kind of curios.

Do you only hear it while moving? Or is it engine noise that you can hear standing still?

 

So far I've only heard it while accelerating. Another way to describe it is that something is rattling around.

Either an exhaust rattle or detonation. Hope its not the latter.

 

can you tell where it is coming from? under the hood?? passenger compartment etc??

 

Don't worry about it. I have an '01 and I asked this question when I first got mine back in May. For me, it's a ringing sound like you described when climbing the revs to 7K and beyond. It's just the nature of the engine. It's not going to blow up on you. I can only hear it with the top up and windows closed with no music. You'll also hear it at different revs.
