Default Engine Rattles

Hi, i've just bought my first S2000, and while i'm pleased as punch i'm a little concerned about my engine making a ticking/rattling sound. I have read that all S2000's are like this. Are they?

Dont want to scare you but I had an MY00 and the engine made a ticking type noise as well as the normal tappety noise, this turned out to be a loose plug, the head was relaced under warranty. Take it back to the dealer just to make sure. im sure it will just be the normal tappety noise. The worst time you could hear it was driving slowly along the side of a wall where the noise would be really noticeable.

Can also get this sound if the car's oil has been run too low, causing damage the cam bearings. (Seems to happen before the crank bearings go). If it's that.... then you're in for a big bill - Honda don't replace the bearings, they replace the head.

Could just be poor valve adjustment, which is very common.

Could just be normal.

My point is, there's no way anyone on here can say whether your engine sounds right or not. It's an internet forum - limited to how people describe things. So trying to figure out if you've a problem or not is flawed at best. Either take the car to a dealer, or meet another S2000 and compare.
