Default Engine rust?

Please forgive me, I don't have a camera. However, I have noticed that part of my engine, a 2006, seems to be rusting. From the front of the car, the rusting part is on the left side, on the lip just below the red part of the engine.

My engine can't be unique in regard; I don't think my engine was made of different materials than others. Can others confirm that this little bit of rust is normal?

woh...If im not mistaken you described the top of the head under the valve cover. If that is rusting, thats just messed up. Should be high grade aluminum. Got my s2k a couple days ago. Im gonna take a good really good look under now.

Your car says "Honda" and "S2000"... not "Hando" or "S2oo" right?

The block is aluminum. I've never seen that, especially within a year, rush as stated.

Can you post pix? Might be an easy explaination.

They're just talking about a little calcification on the alluminum. If it bothers you put some wd40 on a shop towel and rub it down. That should clean it up.

Take a look at my thread....

Is yours in the same spot?

For mine, I took the other posters advise and used a wire "toothbrush" to get as much of it off as possibe. Then I rinsed the area with water.

Seems to have taken care of it.

Thanks Yosh, yes, exact same spot, exact same characteristics. I have to disagree that the dealer used some kind of cleaner on the exhaust manifold, causing the rust. I think it's a characteristic of the 06+ engines. My car had 7 miles on it when I bought it, I doubt that my dealer felt they needed to wash the engine for me, especially when I asked them not to wash the car when they prepped it.

Anyway, as long as it's not a problem, I'm fine with it.
