Default epiphany

after all the drama that has come full circle, about my car, and AP2 etc etc. 2 of my friends have recently picked up 05 s2k's. one of them was a die hard ap1 guy for a long time.
he said something to me last nite, that helped me to understand a particular aspect about my car and its odd swiftness. (i hope wiconsin reads this as it will help). the stock ap2 with the delay valve, slips excessively, no new news. well, just think about how much time is wasted that you ARENT going forward. it was simple to me, when it started slipping, im a tech, i ordered the clutch i wanted and tossed it in. didnt look back, well, mike has driven my car, and was like
and now that he has his own, he said the clutch in my car is one of THE main reasons that its fast, cause it wastes no time moving when you shift. this would explain the matching 1/4 times (ap1 vs ap2), and why wis beats up on stock ap2s so bad. just imagine how slow any car is when the guy shifts like an old lady... its noticeable. well same goes here, you shift like a madman, yet the car spends half second or so getting going again, cause of the slip. it sucks, and i forgot how bad it was, till i rode with him. powershifting is out of the question. the clutch would prob fry in 3 powershifts. so i tripped on this all day, and had to post this. i see now why guys are taking the cheap route and removing the delay. id rather see you all change your pressure plates, but many dont have that option. sorry, but the truth is still there. you add a PP to a stock ap2, and throw in a good driver, no jack and spare, a 13.50 is waiting for you. (at sea level)

What clutch do you have??

I myself have a Spec Lightweight Stage 2 (Kevlar disc).

It grabs excellent but the annoying decell rattle is driving me nuts. Looking to change the disc in the not so distant future.

ok..... so a modified ap2 is faster than a stock ap1?

(PS. i've raced ap2's with the delay valve removed. i can still put 5 cars on them from a stoplight rolling start.)

also from what i recall, those ap2's that have run 13.8's had the delay valve removed.... If anyone has had a 13.7 or a 13.8 with the delay valve still in please speak up! this is not some magical mod that will make the ap2 run 13.5, much less make you destroy stock ap1's with a good driver.

do we really need another thread about all of this?

With 4.57 gears of course.

Me on the other hand will put 6+ cars on stock AP1.
Yes, I have 4.44, which coupled with an AP2 1.28 secondary reduction, will yield similar results (if not better) as an 4.57.

Soon I will be shifting at 8.5K so 7 cars is not out of the question.

I think that was pretty obvious, so I don't understand why you're coming at me with some kind of tone?

yes 4.44 on an ap2 are similar to a 4.57 ap1. which is also why you'll put the same amount of cars on an ap1 that I will.

however, i'm unsure what this has to do with the thread? the entire reason I even mentioned it in the first place regarding my own car was because of this statement he made:
My point was that i don't "beat up on ap2's so bad" because of the delay valve.
Jesus man!!, i was just J/K. No tone was intended in my post.

Bad day at work Huh?? (again just J/K).

Peace Bro

dude, stop. god. so now every ap2 youve raced, you could tell at the stoplight that the delay was removed. get outta here.
oh yeah, and its such a common deal to take it off, that the factory recorded times, and the mags 13.8s, they forgot to mention that they pulled the delay ay??? jeezus.

if it helps, every mag in print has cracked 13s in the new car, yet all the old back issues, none broke 13s in the old car. and these cars arent even broken in. so i do feel sorry for the ap1, getting 14s, cause i know better once broken in. but what does that say for the 2.... hmm hmm, ahhh yes. we see now.

toodles

lol yes bad day at work. it's just so hard to tell sometimes, because typed words simply can't show emotion. (i guess emoticons do serve a purpose lol) it's all good. thanks for explaining.

and you speak of this thread as if its gonna go bad. i was posting info that i stumbled across. it was in no way meant to be hurtful, but you will make it go that way, with your ap1 ego, and your joke cracking on me, for trying to shed some light.
dont forget, the power of suggestion. this thread would be fine, dont insinuate otherwise.
