So I'm not sure how much flaming is going on but I've been checking some of the thread to see if I can understand it. My take..flame if you want

So personally I would prefer we not air out dirty laundry(if any) in public. If users have a complaint that they feel they were ripped off by a sponsor, go to a moderator and report it. They are the neutral third party that is there to arbitrate disputes like this. The same for sponsors who feel that some user is stating misleading, incorrect or defaming statements. I'd prefer not to hear about it unless it's serious and needs community action.

That said I have heard about it and here's my take
I don't believe that any of the sponsors cheated anyone. They sold at a price the market demanded. Now the market price is lower and if they want to keep selling the gears they'll have to respect that price. Of course since they are making less profit on the gears it is likely that other prices may go up to compensate. They have to make money to stay in business after all.

To everyone who contributed to finding out about the kia/mazda gears. HUGE kudos. Great action that really helps out the community! We need this to happen more often!!!

Finally to those who bought their gears at a higher price and now will be worth less if they sell. Well that's one of the risks of being an early adopter. Just as MY00 s2k paid over sticker for their cars, now you can buy them for less, but I doubt that any MY00 owner would be unhappy with their decision! You've got to drive and have fun with your gears before any of us. Enjoy them, they're a great addition and still the best bang for the buck!

Just my $.02

That's life. Let's go forward from here.

As an S2000phile and businessman I just wanted to chime in on this topic... I think it's absolutely great that Big Ben and others have discovered that Honda/Mazda/Kia all share the same gear. But why are most people treating this like some witch hunt? And why are we looking at the sponsors (who keep this site running for the most part) as evil doers? Because they sold us gears with a profit? Come on!?

I'm just hoping that this will stay civil.

By the way, if I buy a car and pay MSRP for it, then a year later someone buys the same car for invoice, should I complain? I mean, I was happy enough to pay the price I did, why should I complain cuz someone got it cheaper?
