air bags come out pretty fast, the dummy heads aren't even coming forward until after full deployment.

Looks like the driving cockpit holds up pretty well...

I've not seen that particular vid before. It is nice to know how well the cockpit holds up. There's not a lot of excess room in there, at least for someone my size, so there's not much room for structural collapse before serious injuries start occurring. The speed of the airbags is the whole point. If they don't get out there fast enough, the rest is a moot point. Only problem is, depending on the size of the person, the air bags are fast enough to do damage in and of themselves. That's what's so impressive about the newest systems. They can vary the deployment speed based on the size of the person sitting in the seat.

There have been many posts on this forum of wrecked S2000's. The pictures in those have already confirmed how well this car takes an impact. It's nice to see the official test vid after the fact!

Hehe, VERY fast. They appear to be fully deployed in the amount of time it takes the front wheel to get to the barrier... Think it's possible that the numbers on the lower left are hundreths of a second? So 0.34 seconds by the end of the video, and about 0.028 seconds for the airbags to deploy.

I've always been impressed by how little the S2000 deforms in this video. Starting with the door, I don't think the chassis flexes at all. There's a video of a Miata being crash tested at the same facitility, and it's clearly visible that the Miata bends between the occupants and the rear-end.

I'd be most concerned about my head going backwards after impact. Its not like the seats give much head support...long way to snap back after bouncing off the airbag.

That looks like the standard offset frontal impact test. I may be wrong but I think its 40MPH.
