Has anyone mentioned yet that any damage should buff out with no trouble, just a little Simonize and elbow grease.

Nice video. I like the "smoke" from the airbags coming out of the right window.

You wouldn't like it if you were sitting in the car! It's a combination of something like talcum powder (used to lubricate the air bag fabric on deployment) and the combustion by-products of the charge that expands the air bag.

It is a very irritating smell, kind of like smelling salts if you've ever experienced that. "Not" fun.

FWIW.

Wow...only 40mph....just imagine a head on crash with both cars going 40mph.
If both cars were the same weight/size it would be roughly the same as one car colliding with a stationary object(ie cement wall, tree, etc). If you run an S at 40mph into say, an Excursion going 40mph....thats where things get ugly.

PS-...and Barry in Wyoming has it right..."That'll Buff right out"

A head on collision uses different elements of physics than that of crashing into a stationary object, regardless of its structureal integrity. A 40mph head on crash is closer to hitting a wall at 100mph, give or take 10 mph. Very, very few people survive head on crashes because the forces impact at an exponential rate vs linear rate of crashing into a stationary object.

That being said, stay on the right side of the road and the S is pretty tough for a small open chassic car.

It's clearly a frontal offset crash test and I think only IIHS does frontal Offset Collision Tests. And those are conducted @ 40mph.
