@ Markk You only used 1 gallon of QuietCar? Sounds like something I should do to my S.

I actually have a little left, so just shy of 1 gallon. Believe me it was well worth every penny!

This is an awesome thread. Thanks Zeniac and snowball for especially informative posts.

I just finished putting my trunk back together after putting on quietcar over the weekend. I did 3 coats and my trunk basically looks like Zeniac's. I also got polyester fill and stuffed it in various places from the trunk area behind the seats.

So far I'm pretty happy with the results. I noticed a decent decrease in sound coming from the rear. Instead of road noise, wind and exhaust noise are more distinct. I hope the noise reduction improves over this week. That would be awesome!

I have about a 1/2 gallon left and now I'm considering doing the inside area under the carpet after reading snowball's post. That would be a good way to use the rest of my paint and I do notice a lot of sound coming from there now that the back is done. That will have to be another weekend...

All in all, well worth the $70 for the gallon and a little elbow grease. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive way lower sound levels.

Anyone have any idea how many db's we're exposed to in this car at freeway speeds?

i thought the point of driving an s2k was to get the thrill of the engine noise, and exhaust o.O

Maybe so, but sound damping usually cuts the unwanted noises (road, vibrations, drone, etc.) to enable you to better enjoy the sounds you do like.

DARN. I wish I saw this thread earlier.

In an effort to combat road noise, subwoofer rattle, and exhaust drone I removed all of the panels in my trunk and the dreaded large plastic soft top panel.

I put e-dead all around the inner fenders where the woofer was causing vibrations. I then filled the crevices back there with expanding foam in a likely vein attempt at more vibration absorption. Had I known about this product I would have added it first, then put the e-dead down, then foamed in vein. Shoot.

I am still considering getting this to coat over the unfoamed parts of the e-dead as well as the rear plastic panel and the rest of my trunk.

I'm not opposed to putting some around where the exhaust runs to help with 3-4k harmonic resonances...

Cheers,

-Towels

When I did mine (and added a whole ~3 lbs to the total weight of the car) it did an excellent job of moving the exhaust noise (read: drone) more to the back of the car than right under the seats. All in all it's much much better.

If you guys did the doors, I assume you had to remove the interior of the door, right ? Did it help with soundproofing ?

For the people that did the underside of the car, can we please get some pictures ?

I know these threads are quite old. but sucks as I cannot find quietcar or alternatives really (at the same price point) anymore.
