Excellent and Inexpensive Soundproofing for S2000
Maybe others know about this - but I just stumbled on it . . .
McMaster-Carr offers a "vibration damping compound" that looks comparable to Quietcoat, but for much less money - $68.85 for a 5 gallon pail (vs. about $240 for Quietcoat).
Anyone know anything about it? Can't seem to find much information on how comparable a product it is.

I called the place regarding mcmaster. Talked to a lady,, she was very nice but didnt have the tech specs on the product. She was going to fax it to me.. Ill give you an update when i get it. the only bad thing is that it dries beige. worst case scenario I could paint it.

I did read about it being a beige color, but I honestly couldn't give a crap what color is underneath my carpeting & door panels.
Ok got some update on that product which when i looked everywhere its the cheapest for the quantity you receive. First off. the specs they send me didnt tell me much info about the weight when its dried. it does say it has hazardous materials. like 5 of them.
I went ahead & ordered the McMaster-Carr vibration damping stuff last friday - and it came in this morning . . .
Nothing terribly useful as far as indications on the bucket itself - but there is a little chart w/ recommended coverages & weight that's interesting. I transcribed it into an Excel sheet, if anyone's interested.
The thickest coverage that's listed on the chart is for 9 gauge steel - anyone have any idea what gauge steel floorpans are? But going on 100 mils thick when wet (55 mils dry), a gallon covers 16 square feet, and weighs .36 pounds per sq. foot (5.76 pounds total).
