Default exhaust gains

been using the search and reading old threads, only to find conflicting data on exhausts. with hopeful gains of 15-20 hp and the loss of 40 lbs, do you actually feel that the car is faster, or is it just mental along with a different sound?

in addition, any idea why honda used such a heavy exhaust system?

Well first off most stock exhaust systems are pretty heavy so that is no surprise.
With most of the exhaust that are out you prolly won't really feel that much of a difference. The sound will be the major difference.

your not going to get 15hp from a catback exhaust anyway your lookin at 4-7hp gain with a catback, with a 70mm headerback you can look anywhere from 10-15hp gain. but its going to be loud.

with my spugen single cat-back i believe i got around 6hp. and 25lbs lighter than the stock. and yes i noticed a difference i raced my friend who has an intake, (me i/e) raced from a 45 roll twice up to about 115 i was up on him about a car and half each time.

its a header back exhaust system (no cat in the middle).

If you want gains by a test pipe header and exhaust or header and header back system. Exhaust by itself will sound better, but the gains will be marginal.

With a very free-flowing exhaust and a TP, you'll be able to feel the gains. I can easily feel the difference with my Invidia, but only after the TP.

so... the idea is theres no significant gain unless you have the headers?
i was considering getting headers before the exauhst... guess i'll just wait to get them at the same time since one is useless wihtout the other... right?
