Default Extended Warranty

Hello,

I have an 04 with 15k miles. I want to buy an extended warranty and I called a dealership and they said since my car is over 6k miles I cannot buy a factory warranty but rather a 3rd party warranty.

Is this BS. How good are those 3rd party warranties?

tell them you are looking for the honda care warranty, I could understand if they didnt want to sell you the extended warranty after your car was out of the original warranty because people who had problems would call and add the warranty then come in 2 weeks later to get their car fixed.

aftermarket warranties are useless if you're going to mod the car with even so much as a strut bar

I got Honda Care right before my car hit 36k miles.

As mentioned though, don't waste your money if you're gonna mod the car.

If you do end up buying a HondaCare extended warranty (think very carefully before doing so) get it from HardTopGuy. He sells them far cheaper than most local dealerships.

why don't you give me the money, we'll go around back, I'll kick you in the nuts and we'll call it a day?

In all seriousness, I got a refund for my extended warranty after I found out it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on.

I've heard terrible stories about extended warranty companies not wanting to fix anything. Even if your car is not modded. I would imagine that it's 50/50 on whether or not they cover something even if it's clearly not your fault. Oh, and if you decide to change one thing on your car, kiss the warranty goodbye.

After reading the countless threads here about how people were denied by hondacare extended warranty over stupid stuff I read over my contract. It names various causes of engine failure in which they will not pay for and to me they ruled out the most likely ways an engine will fail.

When I took the contract back to the dealership to get my refund, I told the finance guy why I wanted to get a refund. He gave me an example as to why I shouldn't cancel the extended warranty. He said if a rock jumped up and punched a hole in the radiator then hondacare would not cover it. Now if the radiator just fell off for no apparant reason then they would cover it. Now which one is more likely to happen? To me, he unintentionally reaffirmed that I should cancel it because I don't see my radiator just falling off.

If you do a search on extended warranty you will see someone here has been denied because they had a cf hood. Another guy had a diff failure and hondacare denied them because they had a CAI. Just look around and you may think twice about getting one.
