Default F22C Oil Use During Break-In

I bought my 08 in early May and have about 3,000 miles on it. I've checked the oil level about twice a week expecting to see some usage while the rings seat and things wear in. But, so far the level hasn't dropped at all.

I'm not complaining mind you. Just wondering if this is normal behavior for the F22C. What have other owners who bought new experienced? What about oil consumption over the long haul?

I did search the forum and came up with lots of oil tests and recommendations but nothing on usage during break-in.

from what i've heard, AP1 owners burn oil. some of them go through a quart every 1,000 miles, and others, every 3,000-5,000.

regarding the break-in oil, people will tell you different things. some people change the oil immediately; some wait until 1,000 miles; some wait until 3,000 miles, others wait until 5,000 or 7,500.

i waited until about 5,500 miles and then changed it. it didn't burn any oil at all. i'm at 14,500 miles now, and roughly 7,000 since my last oil change and i haven't lost a drop of oil. it is still sitting right at the high mark on the dipstick.

i also broke in my RSX and TSX the same way, so count me in the camp of people who really don't think that leaving the break-in oil in shorter or longer really makes a difference at all. "it has more moly," "it has special break-in compounds," etc. etc. if you fall in line with 95% of the other drivers, just make sure you change your oil and filter regularly and you'll be fine.

AP2s typically don't burn oil. Even if they do, its nowhere near the consumption of an ap1.

I lost about 1/5 quart of break in oil.
First oil change was a little over 5k miles...switched to Mobil 1 full synthetic. I'm little over 7800 miles and havn't lost any yet. Gonna look into changing my oil around 9k...4K is close enough to the recommended 3750 that is suggested in the manual.

I have 41K now and have never seen a drop on the dipstick. I posted a poll a couple of years ago in UTH forum. I'll try to find it and bump it for an update. Very few AP2's use any oil at all, from what I remember.

Whewn I broke mine in i didnt lose any oil at all. It was always good when i checked it. To this day actually I have had zero oil usage issues. AP1s seem to be a bit more commonly known for burning a bit of oil. Take care.
