What was the price on the factory alarm? I was going to buy it though Honda-Accessories.com & save some $$, but I want anything electrical to be covered under warranty. The problem is their going to pump me $700.00 for it (installed). Did anyone get it cheaper, installed? Please help. Thanks

Anything you buy from Honda is overpriced. Example, got my front spoiler for about $125 cheaper on-line. I got the Viper alarm with motion detector for about $400 installed. Great alarm and my Honda dealer wanted about $700 for LoJack. I know that half the cops in my area dont turn LoJack on so it is useless unless they do. Shop around before you take a screwing from dealer. [QUOTE]Originally posted by CHOWBOX:

If you are technically inclined you can install the alarm yourself. The car is pre-wired and all you have to do is plug in some adapters and connections.

at partscheap.com, you can buy the whole alarm system for $300, and install it yourself.

Or, you can have a custom alarm installed for about $400 (this is what I recommend).

Or you can buy it from a sponsor
(who was also the guy that started that other place too)

Is it really plug and play as you described or is there alot of drilling, unmounting, etc, etc that's involved?

Easy install if you can follow directions, it will take some time though. Give yourself at least a Sat morning to do it carefully. Some of the under the dash connectors are a b**ch to unplug. I did it and am very satified with the fully stock result. Honda-Accesories.com sends a full set of install instructions out with the unit, and they are priced right at just under $300.
Trevor, did you ever locate the install instructions on the hood switch option for the alarm, I would like to know the level of comlexity on that addition before purchase?

The alarm on my car was a "forced option" but Honda of Oakland only charged me $300 for it. So I think it was a pretty good deal.
