Default Factory side strakes

I have a dent in the lower panel just in front of the right rear. I figure it will cost several hundered to get it fixed and it looks as though I could just cover it with the side strakes. I never really like them though because they look like they are stuck on after thoughts. Given my current condition I may be changing my mind.

What's the overall concensus of the look? or

I like the look okay in conjunction with the front lip, but I don't feel they're necessary. I personally would never put them on because you've got to drill a hole in the side of the car to install them, and there have been enough cases of them falling off.

However, with your situation, I'd consider them. Although, I'd certainly consider getting a quote to fix the damage before making a decision.

Good luck.

thanks for the resonse 00CivicSi.

I wonder how bad it would be to take it to Maco? I'm really not sure who to trust to fix it. Any body shop? I'm torn.

Shortly after I bought my S, I purchased the strakes and front lip from HTG. I installed the lip and changed my mind about the strakes because it looks "tacked" on and doesn't really flow well with the car. But like the other guy said...in your situation, it may be a better alternative to cover up the dent rather than spend a lot of money repairing it. How'd you get a dent in that area anyway?

Bad enough the strakes looked "tacked on", but to cover a dent makes it even worse. Do your S justice, either fix it or don't and wear your track scar proudly.

I wish it were track scar. Sadly probably just a road hazzard. I never knew it happend until walking out to the car one day.

I agree. They do look just tacked on and don't work with the flow. I guess I will just fork out the $ to get it fixed right.

I've always liked the look of the OEM side strakes over many aftermarket side skirts.

I think it compliments the 3 quarter view of the car and gives it more girth.

Installation, if done right, they will not come off. I also used a bead of superglue all along the rubber seal. It drys clear and does not allow air flow to separate it from the car.

Never liked them. They look like an after thought.

If you like the look of them, why not go for the comptech sideskirts?
