Never liked them. They look like an after thought.

If you like the look of them, why not go for the comptech sideskirts?
I don't think the Comptech skirts will cover the area of damage he is trying to hide. The OEM has more coverage onto the side sills than the Comptech.

One of the members took a trip to Japan and met with some of the guys who worked on the S2000 design. She mentioned the side strakes do serve a purpose aerodynamically. They may look "tacked on" but at least you know they might be doing something other than covering your "sins"! Good luck with whatever fix you choose.

thanks for the resonse 00CivicSi.

I wonder how bad it would be to take it to Maco? I'm really not sure who to trust to fix it. Any body shop? I'm torn.

No prob...

However, I'm not sure I'd take it to Maco. Maco is kinda the place you might take a 17yo beater that has various colored body panels from a junkyard so that all of the panels can match (kinda). A 2005 S doesn't deserve that kinda cruel and unusual punishment.

But seriously. I haven't had much experience with body work, but check with a people you know for a reputable shop. Go in an see their work and get a quote. Ask questions so that you understand what it is exactly they're gonna do. Maybe bring it to a couple shops and see if they've got similar prices and procedures. You might even want to refer to your insurance policy. In most cases, it's probably worth just paying out of pocket, but you should consider a repair from all angles.

I hope this helps.

Had the OEM side strakes installed when I got my car. Liked the way they looked. Now I am in the process of shaving the badges and side markers. At the same time the side strakes will be removed. I don't think they look good with everything else shaved. Have 20K on my car and they have held up well, ever a problem with them.

i totally agree. most honda/acura oem optional lip kits look amazing like the integra, prelude, tl, etc. but honda definitly dropped the ball on the s2k sides. (the front lip however looks very nice)
i would get some price quotes and have the damaged repaired.

Bad enough the strakes looked "tacked on", but to cover a dent makes it even worse. Do your S justice, either fix it or don't and wear your track scar proudly.

The side strakes look like an afterthought, as does the front lip and rear wing.

In my opinion, they are over priced for what you get.
