My S2000 has no outside lip wheel-balance weights, as delivered from the factory. It does appear to have a couple small tape-on weights on the interior of the rim, and none on the inside lip. Do all S2000s come this way from the factory? It is the first car I've owned that is completely balanced without any outside lip wheel weights.

Yup, thats the way they are done. Just a simple static balance.

And you can paint the weights.

Well, it's not just a simple static balance but it's not clear to me how well you can balance with the weights on the centerline of the wheel as well as the inside of the wheel. It's in multiple planes this way and may be adequate. Of course, the only place I've seen tires actually mounted with the painted dot on the tire (which I believe indicates the location of the heaviest point of the tire) aligned relative to the valve stem is from the manufacturer. It may not be a huge difference but fewer weights and potentially better balance would be possible...

If I'm not mistaken, the manual states that the clip on lip weights are not to be used on the OEM wheels. They recommend only the adhesive weights on the inside.
