Default Fading on the underside of convertible top?

I've just purchased my 02' and was wondering if anyone has experienced fading on the area exposed to direct sunlight when the top is down. I've noticed that the underside of the top is a fabric and any prolonged exposure to direct sunlight would usually mean some sort of discoloration.

(I know, the convertable top cover certainly will help prevent that...just not keen on using that all the time.)

Thanks

Ramraider, the cover will also, very importantly prevent dust and grime settling in your soft top mechanism.

From what I seem to remember though, nobody as yet has posted anything about the inside of their top fading.

Cheers,

Hey, RamRaider. I don't think it's fading. It is more of getting dusty. My top is like that too. here in cali, it's so dusty that our top looks like it's fading but it's not.

Anyone knows how to clean that area???

After twenty-seven months, no fading whatsoever.

ssanae77:
I just plan to use light soap and water to clean the exterior and just a damp rag for the inside. Yeah, I know what you mean about the dust here tho. Just the other day, after washing the S2K, it took only about a half hour of driving around for the car to collect a layer of dust. Our car are black tho and I guess that's the price you pay...

The best thing I have found for all of the interior, including the under-surface of the top, are the Pledge "Grab-It" mitts. They work great for dust! They don't leave any fuzz behind like a towel would and they don't scratch the surface. I think they are one of the greatest thing ever invented for cleaning.

The top is not, in spite of how it looks, fabric. There was a long thread in several months back in the Wash and Wax forum on it, and the top is plastic. With an excellent embossing that makes it look like fabric.
