Fellow S2kers, help a bear out with a decision
OK, i have an 02 sebring and for the most part i love it. The only thing is, it rattles like no other. Dash rattles, exhaust rattles, suspension, pretty much everything rattles. My passenger seat rail is broken as is my drivers.
I'm really sick of the problems it's giving me. I now have my eye on anything i can afford to trade my car in on. Should i just have Honda try to fix everything or should i look elsewhere for an automobile?
I don't know who else to ask to be honest, has anyone else had this many rattles and problems?? Nothing at all with the engine, it's fine and dandy, it's just these damn lil thigns add up to something big!

I wonder why your car rattles so much. Did you buy it new? Have there been any major accidents? Do you take it four wheeling in the wilderness?
I'd see about having the rattles fixed while it is under warranty and then reconsider. If you feel the car is jinxed, trade it.
I had an '88 Prelude 4WS that I used in June of 1990 to kill a moose. After the $9,000.00 repair, it had some rattles and paint failures so I traded it for my '93 Prelude in October, 1992. I love the '93.
Guess what. A friend bought the '88 from my dealer, and still owns it and loves it 200,000 miles later. My lack of confidence was all mental. So what. I've been happy with the '93 and my friend loves the '88.

Hi Bear. So it's an'02 that I'm guessing is under warranty.
If it's under 36k miles, of course you should have Honda fix everything to your satisfaction. Once everything is in good shape, keep it and enjoy it. Or at least, you'll get more for it if you trade it for something else and quite a lot more if you sell it yourself.

Hi, Barry, Yep the 'lude is a great car. I had a 1992 black Si that I just sold on Ebay. It had 199,707 on the odo and still ran like silk. A wonderful car that just kept goin'! It wasn't quite as much fun as my 2K though
I am hoping to have the same good luck with this baby.
Glad to hear you made out alive after your moose encounter!

Well, I am with the other posters. If it rattles, and both seat rails are broken it sounds like it has been in an accident.
Barring that, if it's under warranty then get all the rattles fixed. Even if you decide to sell it, you will probably get more money if it does not rattle right? So have the dealer see what they can do. If it fixes it so you like the car great, if not you just improved your resale.
This is a very simple decision (at this point) win-win all the way.
