Default Felt vulnerable with the top down

Last night I was driving down a deserted rural road. The road winds thru miles of protected forest and the trees are thick on either side. There were no cars around, just the sound of wildlife in the woods around me. The way the insects were howling and carrying on I felt like I was driving alone through the jungle.

It got a little chilly so I turned the heat on low and it became comfortable. There were about 20 miles to go before I reached civilization. I carefully took each corner, downshifting and accelerating thru, and the engine roared in the forest.

It was kind of a relief when I finished this rural road and saw the Interstate sign ahead of me. It was such a contrast when I blasted on the interstate ramp and saw the lights of other cars around me.

I put it in 6th, got in the left lane and flew all the home, passing trucks and minivans and watching the moon ahead of me.

What you call vulnerable is what I call exhilarating.

Once, I got lost in the bad part of downtown Miami (I'm a Texan) at 3am, and when I came up to the first traffic light, I was in a hurry to get the top up. Granted, the rain and sleep deprivation had a little to do with my pussy-ness, but it just wasn't a fun experience. I was lost for at least an hour, and drove up and down the freeway at least 4 times trying to find my exit (to get to Ft. Lauderdale). I had lost the convoy earlier and was trying to shortcut to catch up.

But, something like the first post would definitely be more exhilirating than vulnerable.

That sound like when I go to my local canyon and do some carving. But I don't hear anything except for my revs going through it gears. I don't know how you can hear animals through your engine noise. I just feel unsafe when I drive through downtown with the top up or down.
