Hi guys i juss wanna know what will happen if you drive your S2k with out the airbox lid or cover on?? why am i asking, because i noticed that some people in type R forums have done this for the intake like sound. My cousin has a type R and he did this it sounds great! it sorta has a deep throaty sound at high rpms. will doing this make the filter dirtier much faster and will the car take in hot air from the near by engine? BTW i have done this to my 98 gs300 it also sounds good.

 

Lots of us tried it before including me. I agree you will get a very rumbling sound especially in VTEC. It sounds very good. Draw back, you are losing power in the performance dept especially when the weather is [red]HOT[/red] because you suck in all the hot air. This topic has been covered before many times so you can find more info if you do some more searching on the old threads.

 

I did this even when the air was cold (about 30 deg.) and I still felt the loss of power. If you really want a nice sound, go for it but you will lose power.
