I have the KIA 4.77 gear set from the front axel of the Sportage, it was new from KIA ($360?), no cryo, no nothing, just a proper install and it has held up for more than 10,000 mi of canyon racing abuse (no drag strip launches) with no noise or gear whine! So far, so good.

according to some of the members, the much needed yellow box does not work with the 06. is this true?
No, it is not true.

I pm'd you the following:

Do you have part numbers and or know if a 2wd is the same as 4x4? I have only seen reference to 4x4.

OK, been researching the forums here and s 2 k i and found out one can go to the kia website to get P/N. I had problems with the P/N that people listed for Mazda gears. I got the following from Kia's parts website:

0K014 27110 front
0K020 27110 rear looks like 2wd and 4x4 same (I only list Rear Diff, while front diff says 4x4 after it, but part numbers front to rear are different...

Questions:

Does anyone know if front and rear are the same or do different part numbers mean different gears?

Does anyone have the mazda part numbers?

They are differant. The rotation of the axle is why. One is cut clockwise and the other is counter clockwise.

OK, so some here have used the front in their s2000, but if they are the same ratio shouldn't they have used the rear? I guess I am asking if they are the same ratio, and the rotation doesn't matter or does, can I use the rear gearing which is the same on a 2wd and 4x4?

I agree and I can get a rear gear free from a 2wd version so that is why I am really interested in knowing if it is correct.
