I have the 4.57's and what clinched it for me was the fact that they are built by Richmond, who are well known in this industry. They are stronger and purpose built for the S. The difference is awesome. Very aggressive and snappy. Get them, you'll love trhem.

4.57's on an AP2 doesn't require a 5th gear shift in the quarter mile, right? But 4.77's do?
4.57's redline 4th at 89mph in an AP2 so you'll definately be shifting to 5th. With a good driver you should be at the top of 4th gear with the stock gearing.

exactly.. average trap speed is 99-100. ..top of 4th. .

what you have to ask yourself tho is.. .if you had a stock ap2, and added intake, header, exhaust, test pipe, throttle body, etc... would it require a 5th gear shift because of the added power .. the answer would be yes, and at that point gears would make sense. ..you're already going into 5th in the 1/4.. might as well get there faster.

If you only drive the S2k on the weekends or during spirited driving would the 4.77's be ok?

Probably, the 4.77's just put the highway RPMS really high. Cruising at what most ppl do on the highway, you'd be in vtec territory.

What would your RPMs be at say, 85 mph on the highway with the 4.77's on an AP2?

Don't mean to bring up an old thread.. but for those running 4.44 on your AP2's.. care to chime in a quick review?

Tryin to decide betw. 4.44 and 4.56 ...

4.44 still readily available from Kia/Mazda?

Thanks
