Either way, it's not cool for some of you to jump on the guy for what appears to be a "bad" deal -- it's his money, and now he has a new car that he enjoys. RIGHT?

Congrats Jerry, and of course, do all the proper break-in stuff.
Some people pay $150 to see Madonna. It would make more sense to me to read someone paying $40K for the S2000.
I don't care how much he paid for his S2000 as long as he's happy but I suspect he was upside down on the RSX-S so it's likely the deal he got would have been similar at most dealerships.
Enjoy! Welcome and don't forget to (I'm shouting here) Break it in RIGHT!!!!!!!!

sorry for the confusions guys......i was upside down on my trade.....i owed 18,666.30
i leased the car from Boch Honda in Norwood.
The sales rep , finance and sales manager all used to work for the dealer i work at now.
For clarification, i do work in the car business. currently, i am a service advisor for nissan. i used to sell for the same company, so understanding leases and financing came kinda naturally.
i do wish i got a lil more for my trade, but at the same time, i knew with all the year end closeout sales, and 0% incentive financing, the used car market is really poor.
my figures worked out to 1,000 over invoice, adding 666.30 for my negative equity, and 1292 down. keep in mind...this is a 2003, not a left over 2002. the residual value of the veh may not have been as acurate if i got a 2002.
hope this helps anyone thats planning on leasing soon, and what kind of a deal you can get. anything under 1000 over invoice would probably require knowing someone at that dealership.

I also had only $3000 down on my car through my trade, and paid MSRP for the S. I have a payment under $500, it will be all mine in under seven years
Some people might not understand a 7 year payment. I can't understand a lease.

as far as leasing, again i only drive about 7500-8000 miles per year anyway. turning in the car after three years and have nothing to show for it?? not a problem......have you ever tried to sell a car?? you never really get what its worth anyway. depreciations kill it. i am still planning to modify the car, then return it back to stock when my lease is up, or just buy it. i had to remove all the parts from my rsx before trading it anyway, so whats the difference?? no dealer wants a modified car. there are still S2000 in the used car market righ now that are about 3 years old, 36k miles, and still selling for around 25k......my buyout on the lease is 20,000....still a good deal.
personally, i am one to always want a new car, this just gives me an option to return rather than getting stuck in the end trying to sell a car.
have you ever wanted a new car, but couldnt get it until you sold your old one?? it sucks......leasing helps me on this part.
in the end, leasing is perfect for me, low mileage driver, cheaper payments, warranty coverage (like ill use that much), and no hassles when i dont want it anymore. plus, gap insurance is already inlcuded.
leasing is not for everyone, it was just mentioned above that Destiny didnt understand a lease. hope this helps

Yeah, I just leased a 2003 WRX for 5 years @ $350 a month. Only gave them $1500 down. At the same time, I refinanced my S2k for 6 years (not a lease.) I still owe 30k on my S2k because I was WAY upside down on my old Audi. I think I traded it in for 15k but owed 20k. Hehe.. I didn't have any cash at the time of trade it.. I just wanted the S2k really bad and didn't really care about eating 5k for it. All in a days work I guess. So now, for the next 5 years (at least).. I have 2 cars paying a little over $800 a month. Sounds bad but man.. Both cars are awesome. I guess I just wanted to say that whatever you paid for you S2k is worth it. I paid more than you and I only have a 2001 (even though I have had mine for a year now.) Congrats and welcome aboard..
