I f this car should appreciate ,here's my guesstimation of the order of precident.
1. MY 2000 because it was first.
2. CR because it is the rarest.
3. MY 2009 because it was last.
4. AP2's because these were improvements over AP1's (AP1 owners, feel free to claim this position- I'm biased.)
5. AP1's

I had no idea the car was made in such limited quantities... 11,000 units a year over 10 years (1999-2009) makes the 110,000 total volume sold... And a little more than 1/2 that in the US.

I realize this is not exactly a Miata, but I would have thought the production numbers would be closer to the Miata than they are... Its not that much more expensive, but offers a good bit more performance... Definition of "bang-for-the-buck."

Sad to see it go, but now our cars can stop freakin' depreciating for a few years! I wonder if an original MY00 would actually go up in price as a result.

Can't wait to see the replacement... Even if its not a drop-top. I think the concept was the "CR-Z", and was a Front-mid, rear-drive layout, IIRC. Probably a few years off. And I thought the NSX was back on again... after being on hiatus for a little while.

would be nice to have a 99' S2000 and a 09' S2000 CR
or at least drive them, just to compare them

It is a sad day but a good day none the less. It is about time. Hopefully this doesn't mean that dealerships charge high rates for parts due to parts being "hard to find" or being considered "rare".

About time. I actually just finished reading the article off the homepage of S2KI. Usually when they post something on their homepage, it is final. Well, lets see how this will change the value of our S in a couple years, if at all.

Shigeru Uehara was the reason Honda had any sports cars at all, and when he retired, so went Honda's sports car sponsorship. NSX development was halfhearted since his departure, S2000 development was nonexistent. I doubt we'll see any sports cars from Honda any time soon.
c'mon, there has got to be others like him inside honda.

it takes more than one man to make great race cars

mine won't be appreciating in value, even if all the others would. i'm going to put too many miles on it. it's a honda, not a ferrari, so i'll happily try to drive the wheels off it

RIP, s2k.
