I heard that this isn't real and that next year they are coming out with a 320hp V6 S2000 that revs to 10000rpms, it also weighs 200lbs less than the current s2000.
Very sad,but expected since the retirement of Shigeru Uehara the S2000 was destined to retire soon after
What Honda should have done was follow in the footsteps of the Porsche 911 bring different evolutions of the car every 2-3 years . That at least would have kept the "gotta get the newest" factor high
It's like 1988 all over again....one sporty FWD Civic model and that's it

RIP S2000! I am glad the ride is finally over. The car is great, but was beginning to show its age. I can't exactly say Honda quit while they were ahead, but I am glad they finally pulled the plug.
End of an era. Say what you will about the horsepower wars, but how many cars have there been that stayed competitive in both performance and style with minimal changes for 10 years? It's a special car, made for love not money.

Shigeru Uehara was the reason Honda had any sports cars at all, and when he retired, so went Honda's sports car sponsorship. NSX development was halfhearted since his departure, S2000 development was nonexistent. I doubt we'll see any sports cars from Honda any time soon.
