My foot was hurting I pushed it to the floor so hard! I wanted to be 100% sure it was "the grind".

Anybody else had theirs show up so late in the game? I mean yea I drive a lot of highway miles but I do shift a lot. I am shifting more around town now because im not traveling those distances.(no more gf) Looks like its just a matter of time!(for everybody)

I've got about 18K on a MY2000. The grind shows up more often when the weather is warm. I thought it was driver error at first but I've noticed my foot planted to the limit more than once now. I'll reluctantly be going to service for the TSB before Summer really gets here.

I just has the clutch TSB done and when I was there the service manager asked if I wanted the grind TSB done too. I told him I hadn't had a problem yet. I have the "if it isn't broken...don't fix it" attitude. He told me that all cars will eventually get it. I have about 23k miles right now and haven't had a problem so I decided to wait.

ITS GRINDING ALL THE TIME NOW!!!! WTF! I dont get it. It started last night and now if I run the car even on surface streets for like 5 min then stop and shift anywhere from 4,000 on up and go quickly it will grind. If I hesitate just a second mid shift it will either not grind or just kinda garble then go in nice nice.

Now I just gotta find a good dealer around the CT/RI/Mass area to do it.(one with experience in the 1-2 grind)

Anybody know of one?!

keeping your foot planted on the clutch pedal is not necessarily an adequate test. you should still try to rev match the shift. If you keep the clutch pedal down too long, the revs drops and that could be what is causing the grind. I know, it still should not do that - but the synchros do wear over time - esp. given the high revving nature of the S2000 and the tendency for the transmission to have to make up large differences in rpm. The warmer temps are probably causing the transmission oil to be too watery and hence not providing enough friction for the synchros to work properly. Maybe the transmission oil has broken down in your case?

Hey...
This is my first time posting but I visit frequently...lots of cool info. Anyway, I just started experiencing the 1-2 grind too. It happened once a few days ago but today it happened four times. I thought it was driver error but now I think I have the grind problem. The S has almost 10,000 miles on it and its 1st birthday is in May. Just thought I would share that.

I assume you guys are aware of this service bulletin:

http://s2ki.s2000online.com/notices/2ndgeargrind.php

I haven't heard anybody mention it yet.
