First 10 hours of '01 #52 ownership :D
Wow!
First, thanks to everyone on www.honda-acura.net and this board for enthusiasm, encouragement and wisdom.
No regrets. Not any. I was unprepared for the wonderful driving experience!
The dealer prepared my car perfectly even to the niggling details of leaving off the front licence plate (required in Wyoming), removing the spacer springs, setting the clock for heaven's sake, and the car was spotless and perfect inside and out!
I was unprepared for the pleasure -- stationary AND moving. Even at speed my favorite country/western singers (Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Emmylou Harris, Shania Twain) sounded fine with the stock speakers. I guess being 53 and having less than high fidelity ears and less than caviar taste has its benefit. I hope Reedz and Flying Pig and Rick Hesel can excuse my taste.
What a joy to drive top down at 80 mph! It was much quieter than I had guessed, and conversation was not a problem. The Honda aeroscreen was dramatically effective. I'm sure Rick's is even better and Mingster's too but stock is fine with me for now.
My main ride the last 8 years has been my '93 Prelude VTEC with 190 hp and 156 ft-lb from its 2.2L engine and five speed transmission. That Prelude is about the same weight as the S2000, kicks into VTEC at about 4800 rpm, redlines at 7400 rpm and has a real "jump to hyperspace" feel when the VTEC change-over occurs.
The S2000 is noticably better in acceleration, handling, engine sound, transmission feel, braking, everything.
I don't think there's a bad S2000 color but the silver/black is completely satisfying for me.
I've looked forward to owning this car for a year and I've had a six month wait since my deposit. Now, I look forward to driving and driving and driving it!
Thanks to the on line support for:
(1) Warning about speaker and transmission problems.
(2) Warning about spacer springs and front bumper plugs.
(3) Helping me choose options: (net and pocket, titanium shift lever, Honda alarm, Honda car cover.
(4) Warning me about waiting for 600 miles for revving into VTEC range.
(5) Preparing me for tread wear.
(6) Preparing me for doing without this car in bad weather and on slippery roads.
(Dick Weber did look at me a bit funny when I asked him about an after-market snow blower to bolt onto the front.)
Thanks for everyone's companionship. Oh gosh! Bliss!
Message to Rick: Rarely in life does reality exceed fantasy, so be prepared to enjoy this one opportunity.

Awesome...! Just you wait...it only gets better. I am about to turn 20k on the way to the race track tomorrow and you will see as the car's mechanicals break in and sync that it gets even better...! After 5-7k miles, you will notice the car get more solid and powerful.
Biting my tongue. The best is yet to come!
Congrats!
