First Convertible?
The S is my first convertible and that wasn't really one of the reasons I bought the car in the first place. The 9k redline, handles likes its on rails, 240hp 2 litre engine is what really drew me in. The drop top was really an afterthought for me when I first bought the car.
Well, now all I wanted to say was holy, mother, hallejuh, I've seen the light. After a weekend of top down along the coast here in CA, with great ocean views, the breeze blowing in my face, sunny skies (I feel for you snowy winters people), I can't see any reason why anyone would not want a convertible. It brings driving to a whole new level, like your one with the surroundings. I was almost going to get a bike before the S, but now, for what? This car feels like a motorcycle anyway, and its a lot safer. Thats it, I've been converted.
Drop tops 4 Life. And, the summer is just beginning!!! hehe
For the rest of you guys, is this your first convertible too, or have you had the pleasure of owning a drop top before the S, and if so, why were you so selfish in not enlightening the rest of the world on the joys of driving with the top down!

A collegue at work is considering the S2000 but also the Miata. He has in his youth owned a couple of smaller british sports cars and has, i think, a point when he says the Miata might be a good choice for him. His reasoning is that the Miata can be taken to the limit on normal roads, whereas you probably can't with the S2000. It's too quick. The Miata is nimbler and cheaper, so if its driving joy you want primarily perhaps the Miata is better value for money?
Any comments from those of you that have owned both?

I admit I really bought the car because of the performance.
The convertable part is nice also.
This is my 1st:
-Car I ever bought
-Convertable
-Rear wheel dive vehicle
-Manual transmission (6 Speed)
-and on and on...

One of the biggest reasons I bought the car was because it is a convertible. After driving my parents' RX-7 convertible, I knew I had to have one.
On the other hand, I waited for the S2000 for a couple years.....way back when it was the SSM concept car and then SSX prototype. I wanted the Honda reliability and also race car performance, whether it was going to be a coupe or convertible.

I've owned more cars than I can remember but I remember these convertibles: 72 Spitfire, 64 Corvette, 73 El Dorado, 74 Grandville, 90 Miata, and others I can't think of right off. There was also a T-top Corvette (C3), Targa-top Corvette (C4), and a host of various other T-top cars.
My first was a Fiat Spider. Sniff, I miss her.
Despite all the turmoil of our relationship: Unalignable suspension, oil leaks on the header and its related smoke screen, broken steering box, broken transmission, trunk that wouldn't stay closed, doors that would when I parked on anything other than level ground, a voltage regulator that caused the battery to boil and create poison gas, and the angry sounds she would make when I drove her over 65, the memory shines brightly when I think all the good times I had with her topless. :-)
