omg. so sorry to hear about your S, glad you made it out alright!

I'm in CLE and know how bad Ohio winters can get. I'm keeping my S in the garage, just doesn't seem worth the risk, especially when I hear about stuff like this!

 

Wow, glad you're ok. Sad to hear this b/c i was considering this car too. Sucks to see such a good looking s2k totaled, but there are more important things in life!

We have had several inches of snow this past week here in Atlanta, and all I think about is what I would do if I had an S2k to drive. Hope to have one in a few weeks. My wife has a car we've been driving in the snow and it seems to do pretty well. Wouldn't dare take the s2k out in these conditions though. Especially after reading this.

 

Saki, thanks for the info...those are some reassuring numbers...but of course I'll just have to see what insurance says.

It's certainly not worth the risk of getting the car out in the snow...if I'm fortunate enough to have the car repaired I definitely will be picking it up on a clear day and not driving it in anything but sunny days.

glad to hear you're in sound health.. i know your heart is aching.. keep that chin up.. one way or another the S is still in your fate.. don't mean to be dickish but if you are willing would you part with those wheels? i love BBS LMs..

 

Hey wuttheheezy, not dickish at all man I'm all about hunting down parts that way as well...if insurance actually does total the car but allows me to pull parts, I planned on getting the stockers from Nick (savesday04) and swapping them off and keeping the BBS LM's for the next S2000 I plan to buy.

If for some reason I change my mind and end up not hunting for another S, the rims will go on the classifieds.

Yeah I'm hoping I can get some photos from insurance...if they do in fact total the car, I'll post the pics on here to see what you guys think. From what I can remember, the car would be fixable...I just don't know if I could devote the time to fix it.

I'll let you guys know the vehicle's location and salvage price via PM if the car gets totaled and you're interested.

Sorry to hear man, i know how things like that can get you down but youll get another S.

You guys are scaring the crap out of me, I bought my car in Novemeber and immediately garaged it. Ive heard these cars are squirrely but this is intimidating.

Lame question but you guys with winter tires, do you swap out all 4 or can you get by with snow/winter tires on the rear only. I am in the pacific northwest where it rains alot but doesnt get below freezing all that much.

 

Thought I'd chime in here since this was my old S2K. After reading through these posts its nice to see how helpful everyone is to a new member. This is a great community with great people and I hope to own another S one day. I didn't want to sell her but other things pop up in life, basically I'm saying this June I will be a father and I'm excited. I hope the car isn't totaled but there is a chance she could be and if Renfro doesn't buy the car back hopefully I can and maybe I'll try and fix her up. I'm just glad Alex is ok, physically anyway.... He's a great addition to the community.

 

Thanks nick you're right...this forum has been a big help and its helped sell me on the S2000 even more. This isn't quite the way I wanted to bring myself into the community but life happens sometimes and you just have to brush yourself off and keep going.

You guys will be the first to know what happens with the car. Either a resurrection or the start of a search for another S2000. Again thanks for all the support. I moved away from home for the military just two months ago so this hasn't been easy not having any family around. I appreciate all of you.
