I am a very satisfied customer with Rick's online intl shop.
Although I live in Athens, Greece, I have never called him for pending issues since our e-mail communication is more than sufficient.

Rick's has a disclaimer about wait times. That is why when I ordered my stuff I asked if it was in stock.

- I ordered some stuff last week (thursday 04/15/04) and im trying to call as we speak to see if they have shipped my order out...
- HOPEFULLY they did NOT ship my order because I want to order something and maybe save on shipping, but it seems like I won't get in contact with them in time I have called about 8 times already and no answer
- Rick Hesel: Please check your email... Thanks

I emailed Rick about an accessory that I needed and I NEVER heard ANYTHING back from them. I will never do business with someone who does not have the time to respond to a potential customer. I took my money somewhere else and will continue to do so.

Rick, work on your customer service!!!

Another thing to keep in mind is that unless it's changed recently, Rick's charges your credit card as soon as you place the order. To have a charge on your card and not be able to get a response from the vendor that made that charge can be frustrating. Most retailers don't charge your card until the order ships. I have had good and bad experiences with Rick's. The worst being an order that was delayed several months with very few updates. It's not good to get your credit card statement with a charge on it from a vendor, having to pay that bill, and then not getting the product for another month after that.

In my experience, most retailers charge 50% upfront for larger ticket items and the balance when it ships, if the item has to be special ordered. If the item is in stock then I have been usually charged upfront.

Overall, the sponsors (including former sponsors) of this board, those that I have chosen to deal with, have been very easy to deal with.

Most credit card companies don't require you to pay for the item on your statement if it hasn't been received. Contact the CC company and explain the situation, and follow-up in writing. They will also follow-up with the vendor for their side of the story. You are protected using the credit card.

I don't want to badmouth these guys and props for stepping out and trying to get something started, but.....

This is a hobby and anyone doing business with these guys needs to take this into consideration. Poor communication and charging CC's prior to shipping are poor decisions in any business.

I think you are well within bounds to voice your complaint.
