I can relate, 1983 Honda prelude, till 1989, perfect car. 1989 legend L sedan till 1995...sold to friend....sold this year at 190,000 miles, not perfect but perfectly good. now the S.
I have other cars and have had other cars in between and not all of what honda makes is to my liking....but honda is the benchmark for which i judge all my cars in terms of reliability, features, value, and performance. I also use BMW as a benchmark, but for other values.
We have a volvo and a chrylser van at this time and my son has a bmw 328i.

Over the past 15 years, I have owned several Honda cars, all of which were purchased new. CRX si, a few Accords, CRV, several Civics, and now the S.
As you would presume, the S is by far the most "satisfying" of them. Additionally, I have owned many other new vehicles such as few Toyota trucks and SUVs, a Pathfinder, a couple of BMWs, Lexus, and (don't laugh), a Mitsi Mirage back in the day.
I must admit that the Honda products, and the Toyotas come to think of it, have been the MOST reliable by far.

I've owned Toyota and Honda. Both are about the same in reliability (nothing mechanical, some minor trim issues). The Toyotas are boring for the most part, but I'd never hesitate to buy another if I need something to haul the wife/kid around. For mundane driving chores, you cannot beat a Toyota. I'd also favor Toyota simply because they aren't as much of a theft target.
My car choice was for weekend fun and a short commute to work. Practicality meant nothing, and I loved the S the first time I saw one in 1999 or thereabouts. The S is my 3rd car, and my 1st Honda. I'm impressed, to say the least.

There are several comments in this thread about the NSX. I have owned my NSX for almost 4 years and can only say it is the finest car I have ever had the privilege to own. I have never owned a Porsche, so I will not comment about them--they are definitely world-class. But, I have had about 25 different sports cars from Vettes, TransAM, 300zx Twin Turbos, and I am about to buy a S2000.
The NSX is underpriced! Honda loses money on every one they sell. I got mine BRAND new with 28 miles for $73,000 (great deal). It doesn't have the raw power of a Viper or Z06, but it is a ton more fun to drive. Take an off-ramp at 80 mph in third gear (scaring the hell out of your wife) and you can feel the balance in this car.
If you can find a low mileage one in good condition, do what you can to get it--you will never regret it.
My point is, please do not blast the most reliable exotic car made, especially if you have no experience with one.
Thanks
